Switch-Foot II

It is all about the book for one Andrew Crockett, who has been diligently working away at it for over three years now...in fact it might be four years. There are over 70 contributors to the second book, with plenty of old style surfing, new style sliding, art and more art, even girls, there are girls...It has all new content, and more content than the first book...Harry Daily/Sketch Holiday is painting the cover...there are contributions from Australia mostly, but also friends from England, America, France, NZ...We have oodles of new content and characters to add to the website, once the book is finalised...but you know what, we dont want to say too much...we just want to wait until it is finished and post you one. Art here by Harry Daily.

Band Of Frequencies

The Freq's are set to do some shows with NZ Band 'Little Bushman' who are doing a National Tour of OZ in April.

The bands are looking fwd to playing together again after their gig closing the Island Vibe Festival on Straddy last October. Little Bushman and the Freq's sound like they have similar record collections, playing a mix of rock, roots, reggae and psychedelic sounds.

The Freq's are stoked to announce the distribution of their debut album 'Sol Train' through Vitamin records, which will be released in conjunction with the tour. Sol Train has been available through the switch-foot website, but soon will be available Nationally in the shops.

They are currently recording their next album which will hopefully be released later in 2009. If you'd like to show your support of this independent recording please email bof@switch-foot.com and drop us some stoke.

The Present~ 3rd film by Thomas Campbell~ Australia Tour May 2009Australia

We are sure most folk are aware that Thomas Campbell has finished his third film, 'The Present.' Following on from the delicious debut 'The Seedling' and the hero lines of 'Sprout',..

'The Present' is planning on an Australian and UK tour...The Wegeners are helping set up a string of shows From May 10th in Noosa Heads at 'The J' with Band Of Frequencies, right down to Sydney for three shows June 1, 2 and 3.

Shannon Sol Carroll from the 'Band Of Frequencies' went to Africa during the making of the film, and is featured on the soundtrack...they recorded music in Senegal Africa with Chris Berry from Panjea, then surfed perfect waves off the coast of Africa with Jacob Stuth, Dave Rastovich, Alex Knost...Sol will be playing acoustic music at most of the shows up and down the coast, with OJ Newcomb on double bass...if you were at the Noosa Festival Of Surfing jam tent, YES, those guys.

You can also click this link to see the UK Cornwall tour dates in April and May, being put together by Christiian Bailey, the film maker who made 'The Hub' in 2006 and today is working on www.pronetobelly.blogspot.com

Bombora ABC tv Australia

Bombora is a new documentary funded by the Australian Taxpayer, due to air this week on the ABC THURSDAY 8:30pm...We are pretty sure it is a history of the competitive realms of surfing history, rather than say drug trafficking, but definitely worth a watch as there will be no advertisments, the good ole ABC. It is a two part thing, so if you enjoy it, make sure you watch the second part. ps it is bootlegging paradise.

Michael Peterson

'Searching for MP' with heavy support from mainstream surf media, crew like Andrew Kidman and Tim Gaze in the soundtrack, we are sure you have heard about this film touring the East Coast of Australia this month. If you do go to the show, word on the street is that there is a film they are selling as merch, called 'Ocean Rhythms' and it is pretty epic footage from Steve Core from the 1970's and well worth a purchase if you have the bread. Click the image of MP to find the tour dates.

Insane 2 minute wave

Caution: make sure you wear some sunglasses when you click through here to this insane video, the website is pretty bright and flashy. It is a wave, in Africa that is mental and it made us stoked when we watched it, hope you like it too.

wanted: African Vibrations movie

This film looks like a classic. Made in the late 1960's into the 1970's by Clive Barber, the poster reads names like Farrelly and Drouyn and you know what, no one knows where it is...If you have any idea, the only clues we got is that it was left with Ron Perrott, who is now deceased, and that Glen Ritchie might have a clue, or some bird in Africa. It is lost, we hope to find it. Thanks to Garth Robinson in JBay for his help in making us aware.

Surf Rage Torquay

This image is Barrie Sutherland on the front page of the Torquay echo news. He was attacked in the surf recently by a group of young surfers...and it is disgusting. Surfing has bred all these angry idiots, but we just want to spread the news that no matter what happens in the water, assaulting anyone is just pathetic, especially someone in their 60's. Barrie Sutherland just happens to be our friend and a very passionate and talented photographer, if you want to visit his website you can go here. www.watermarksphotogallery.com.au

BODY SURF II

Ryan Heywood has compiled his second version of bodysurf.com.au, and is open for submissions for his third issue.

SEA MAIL

If you have bought any signed images of George Greenoughs in the last 18months, and you live in California, chances are it was stolen. We would like to hear from you if that is the case.

Jazz The Glass

From the creators of the Surf COMEDY 'Invasion From Planet C' looks like they are making another film already called 'JAZZ THE GLASS' and you can watch the trailer here, not sure when it will be released or if it will make it to Australia...their first film was classic, with Gnar Gnar and Casanova smoothe styling, original and funny. Casanova just happens to be a great surfer who has been floating around Tweed for a couple of years....To watch a trailer to their first film click www.invasionfromplanetc.com/

Water~Light~Passion

John D'Errey is Byron bay legend, 'the shop on the corner with all those lovely photographs'...i can hear you say....Dolphins, sunsets, whales, water, light, PASSION> John has spent six years filming to create this 45 minute special feature which will take you on a magic ride of the wonder of the 'Rainbow Region', as the locals call it. If the light is on, John D'errey is there capturing the moment. Hit the link here to visit John's website and we recommend the dvd 'Water, Light and Passion' it is the sort of film you lend to a friend to share the wonder, then it never comes back again...

Tom Wegener's creation plantation~Alaia project ~ Cyrus Sutton

Cyrus Sutton sent us this link to some film projects he has been working on...lately, it is an 'Alaia' instructional style video, beautifully shot, great sound and educational...There are other shorts on there and a prelude to his forthcoming tv website, Korduroy.tv

Sliding Across the Sea Sideways

When we were in England in 2007, we showed some short films at a nice old hall, it was a great night. One of the films was by John Eldridge, a talented film-maker who has recently started a blogspot. Check it. Think you can score the dvd for like 5 pounds...worth every pence.
