BOOK II ~~~ coming soon

Been a long time coming, three years in the making, over 60 contributors and we hope, just as real as the first switch-foot book and will be available through the website later this year. Pretty much all the contributors from the first book are in the second, plus a bunch of other crew we met along the way....more art from Harry Daily and others, interesting interviews from years of gathering by Andrew Crockett. Maybe the next newsletter we will have a photo of the cover art, and write up on the contents...stay tuned.

Sketch Holiday coming to OZ

Sketch Holiday, also known as Harry the Hat says he will be in Australia in March and April, helping us with the design of the second book, and also travelling around working for tom, dick and harry.

Harry might do an art show at the Noosa Festival of Surfing, and should be floating around Sydney at the beginning of April, Torquay for April 7th, then back to Byron for a little show before hopping on a cruise ship. If you want more information on where you can catch up with Harry, please drop us an email, and we will pass the news to harry when he arrives.

Daryn Mcbride~~~artist

We have recently updated Daryn Mcbrides page on switch-foot, with a nice little one minute video, links to his blog which has plenty of feedback --- following his press release about why he is quitting pro longboarding after he won the NZ scene. GOOD we say, Daryn you are one of the nicest surfers to watch, and we hope you never have to try and 'beat' anyone, ever again. Also, some new images from his recent works. Stay tuned from more from Daryn in the second book.

John Eldridge~~~UK

'Eldo' is a fine photographer and surfer based in Cornwall UK and recently started a blog with some of his photos...some of his usual subjects include Jimy Newitt, his brother Benji Eldridge, Daniel Crockett and Neil Erskine...all fluid surfers. John has travelled a lot and is a keen snowboarder too, we also love his short films. We encourage anyone who is a 'blogger' to check it out, and leave some stoke.

Switchzine archives now online

All of our newsletters are now available online on the site, down the bottom of the screen in the menu bar on the right....one day, we hope to have more time to make this online zine thing sing a bit more, but for now, we are trying to print a book that weighs as much as a brick. enjoy

~w.a.v.e.s~

Yes the surf has been pumping and we got loads of nice photos from land and sea, and if there was more time, we would put them online somewhere and have a link here, but everyone knows it...everyone knows the surf has been good...and thankfully too, the shark situation is getting some airplay too, because we have to say, it is very sharky thanks to the laws that govern the sea these days.

Belinda Baggs~Mick Hughes~Dane Peterson and friends in Sri lanka

Belinda sent us this video that she has been working on with her husband, Dane Peterson. We loved seeing Mick Hughes as well as Belinda and friends, well captured by Dane Peterson who is now behind the lens as much as he is on the nose....When you click the link here, allow a moment for all the video's to upload...then  click on 'view all stories' (top right screen) and select 'substituted by blue'.

RIDE a White Horse

I know i know, we have already told everyone about this film....but seriously, it is a must see. So much epic footage from the 60's of guys like John Peck, Nat Young and Midget (in their teens) Peter Drouyn getting tubed in Hawaii, greenough, all the californian monster children of the day...cannot recommend highly enough. We added more info to the site, and there is also a page on the site now where you can order any of the old classics, via Dick Hoole...check it out, www.switch-foot.com/view_item.php

Greenough's space mission

Alex Kopps is a funny guy. Check the Gothic Dolphins blog and scroll down to have a laugh on the Greenough space mission of 1970.

Little Bushman Band ~ NZ ~ tour Australia in April

I would have to describe this band as having a lot of soul. Listing bands like Led Zep, Bob Dylan, Hendrix and Coltrane as some of the influences we are stoked to see the Band of Frequencies playing three shows with them as part of their Australian Tour, pulled together by the Atlas Agency. 'Little Bushman', featuring Warren Maxwell, known for his role as frontman of 'Trinity Roots' and also for his contributions with Fat Freddies' Drop.

Little Bushman and Band of Frequencies will be playing:

Wed. April 15th @ The Northern Byron Bay

Thurs. April 16th @ the Troubadour, Brisbane

Sun. April 19th @ Bondi Beach Rd. Hotel, Sydney

UPLIFT

Dane Peterson sent us this link to a short 4 minute video that we found very funny and right on, hope you like it too. If you are feeling a bit uptight because your computer isnt working fast enough, then maybe you should chill out for 4 minutes and laugh.
