All of this stuff has come from people emailing us, and we love spreading the news....SO, keep on emailing us your passionate works. The sequel to the switch-foot book is brewing like a fine ale...
Barrie Sutherland has a beautiful gallery in Torquay and we recommend anyone in the area to drop by and appreciate this fine work. Barrie is still taking black and white film around Bells Beach today, and the website has some of his photography but you really have to visit the gallery to appreciate the extent of the material spanning five decades of surf, from Victoria---over to Western Australia and back to Victoria again. So much stoke.

Bruce Usher is from the old school or surf. Today, while still being into the surf is also working on some interesting projects today...following are some words from Bruce, drop him a line, tell a story, he will be stoked.
I have been working away on two book projects in between my commercial assignments. The second project is a combination of vibrant individual and group portraits with a lot of copy. A cross between a condensed ABC TV's Australian story and the (SMH ) Good weekend's 2 of US page. I have been working on interviews for this project since February 2007 and the photography since 2004. This is predominately about people's experience with the ocean. I am still looking for interesting subjects of all ages and nationalities. Their ocean experience could be simple or complex. Sensual, spiritual or just scary. The ocean, rips, waves. Be it looking, surfing, photographing, being scared of, The daily laps across the beach or an ocean pool, the feel of the sand under your toes...or any one of many personal experiences....
Looking forward to your responses...
Dave Rastovich has been spreading the word on the ocean conservation and is an avid fan of seashepherd. Minds in the Water is a documentary he is currently working on with some talented film makers.
If you like collectable surf, skate and beatnik junk...then you will love all this stuff. From Daryl Miller, who used to make South Of the Border surfboards in the old days and run the old SugarShack surf shop that was only open once a week, to now...
Based around Coolangatta and shooting most days, Sean Scott has a huge collection of images across many genres, we encourage you to swing by one of his shops or online and have a look and get stoked.
David Platt and his gig restoring the old beauties from the golden era of surfing, an era forever gone but some of the boards live on thanks to crew like David Platt who love to keep them alive...
Hi All,
We have created a new Podcast called Aussie Surf Underground. Our main drive behind creating this podcast, is we wanted to capture the stories of the lesser known identities in Australian Surfing. What they have to say is sometimes controversial, often unexpected and always interesting. In the first episode we interview John Charleton (JC) who is an elder statemen of Queensland surfing, and talks some eternal truths about the pastime we all love.
Enjoy

A good friend of Harry Daily...Meegan lives in the USA and has some beautiful artworks that are for sale as prints, and tee shirts and all kinds of unique things that we love....to drop by, and say hello.
Luke Taaffe is a passionately driven Artist/ Graphic Designer/ Surfer from the Central Coast beach of Wamberal NSW. Predominately working on weathered wooden boxes and pre-loved materials, Luke's flowing detailed work represents a life living by the ocean and it's surrounding environment. The eroded and often found materials he paints on, reflect the salt decaying effects of oceanside living and how it impacts on mans desire for development and progress. In contrast, the vibrant colours and ink detail he uses show the fun and privilege one has to be raised near the surf.
Celine Chat is a surfer and artist from France. Since 1996, she is travelling all over the world in quest of good waves to surf, different cultures to find out and new persons to meet. All those discovery and experiences compose her inspiration. Her unique and creative artwork has exhibited in France, West Indies, Brazil, where she was invited to the Alma Surf International Surf Culture Festival in Sao Paulo and Rio and also in the United States where her artwork is exhibited in California all through summer 08 at the International surfing Museum of Huntington Beach.
Lennox Head as a contest site
Re: The question is, Do you agree that Lennox Head should be a surfing contest site for Rip Curl to have their way and if so why? Email your reply to ed@switch-foot.com
Born in Mauritius in 1966, Ian and Erick Regnard took up their first camera as a passion to capture the ocean’s underworld. Although fascinated by photography it is not until later on when their family migrated to Australia that they saw an opportunity to evolve from their basic skills. It is of their upbringing around the sea that draws them constantly back to the ocean for most of their work. Tungsten is a collaboration of both brothers on every level, from ideas, composition, direction and photography and mostly concentrate on Sport, Lifestyle and portrait photography.,,and even some really classy nudes.
Nigel Arnison is off the radar in the surfing World, and that might be because he lives in the real World...more concerned with the light outside, his gardens grey water system or worm farm, and of course his gallery/cafe in Coolum Australia. Nigel is still shooting film with people like Tom Wegener, Jacob Stuth and the usual suspects at Noosa, not to mention some recent weddings and rock concerts. Check the website, it is loaded and stacked with content that we really love. Thanks Nigel, keep getting up at dawn for the hero shot.
There is more to Dave Kelly and this website than water housings. Argonauticmedia sort of says it all...it is about the art and following the passion, away from the mainstream interpretation of what we should be doing with our life. Sounds familiar?
ENGLAND surf---art show
Artists include Dan Crockett, Neil Erskine, Jimy Newitt, John Eldridge, John Isaac and more. Film and food, music by Neil Halstead. For more information email nosurf@mail.com or ask us at switch-foot.com, as we love the england surf culture underneath the subculture.
If you havent heard of Neil's music, chances are you have been living under a rock listening to old ragtime blues, like us. Currently touring with Jack Johnson and such a nice sound, and another slider of the fine line of surf joy we all love. His new album, 'Oh MIghty Engine' is out now through brushfire records. Thankyou for the good vibes Neil.
Now in Brighton England, coning Kryptonics and staring out to sea, scratching a living as an illustrator, artist and designer like a big hen with Crayolas. Also a part-time youth worker, journalist & data entry monkey, still full-time skint. Do everything from oil paintings to Perspex sculptures but most happy with inky fingers, salty face and a hazy head. My work is escapism from the daily grind, influenced by everything I’ve ever seen, read or heard...
Recently signed to a national distribution deal with Vitmain Records, there is a ONE OFF show in Sydney on September 11th at Beach Road Bondi, with Dave Rastovich and musicians such as Sol Carroll, Oj Newcomb, Terepai Richmond, Tony Hughes from King Tide and Chris and Stu from Oka all set to make a pretty heavy night to celebrate this national distribution deal.
We have seen the finished documentary, and Cyrus Sutton (the maker of the classic film, 'Riding Waves') has done a superb job on this film. Shot over 4 years and with some serious animation to go with the 16mm film, plenty of archival footage from the golden era and a soundtrack from Californian funk , ghetto groove masters, Ubiquity records it all sounds good on paper, and it looks great on screen. Cyrus has also edited a surf/music only version, which has tonnes of footage that isnt in the actual documentary...fans of Morning of The Earth and the Inner Most limits will get stoked on this version too. Where this documentary will end up, we dont know, but the soundtrack will be released on September 1st and here is a link to tru thoughts, which are in a killer space....

Mum and Dad took their six year old son to a nude beach. As the kid walked along the sand, he noticed that some of the ladies had bigger titties than his mum. So he asked her why. She said, the bigger they are the less intelligent the person.' PLeased with the answer, the kid went to splash in the shallows. But he returned to tell his mum that some of the men had bigger dickies than daddy. His mother replied, 'the bigger they are, the dumber the person.' Once more the child was satisfied with the answer and returned to the water to play. But he came running back almost immediately telling his mum, 'Daddy is talking to the dumbest girl on the beach and the longer he talks, the dumber he gets.'
