Rolling Stone magazine

We have never done an interview with a 'surfing' magazine in Australia...

But we did score a nice story in a quality magazine called ROLLING STONE. It is on shelves now and our spread is on page 34-35. The cover is featured here with Jimi Hendrix.

We also had a really nice feature 'review of the week' in the Sydney Morning Herald and a similar piece in the Dominion Post in NZ.

We would also like to thank the Surfers Journal USA (they get it) and Surfers path UK (they get it too) and also Blue Magazine Japan.

internet ~ free surf stoke

There is so much good content on the internet at the moment. It is mind boggling. AND it is free.

Sites to check out and subscribe to; for free

www.driftsurfing.eu/index.php these guys started out in England with Howard providing really nice content on the glide, the trim and the site has some interesting content.

www.liquidsaltmag.com/ based in the USA you can find interviews with famous older surfers, young surfers, artists, musicians, shapers and it is all FREE and very good quality.

www.korduroy.tv/ based in the USA, this site is blossoming right now. On the weekend they had 5 beautiful movies available to watch for free as part of their 'virtual film festival' and we really enjoyed Richard Kenvin's short on blocks of foam that plane at high speed.

blog.merseabeaucoup.com/ this is not an online magazine, it is a daily upload of high quality video content. Check out Rastovich surfing epic Noosa with guys like Del Moro, Stuth, Wegener and the usual suspects. It is run by Lauren Lindsay HIll who is currently living in Broken Head and shooting interesting video content with interesting characters.

Plus dozens of interesting 'blogs' like;

Critical Sliders

Nathan Oldfield ('Lines from a Poem' & 'Seaworthy') sent us a little short film he made for the 'Critical Slide Society.'

A talented film maker, perfect waves and great cast, including our pal Jacob Stuth.

Board swap meet

Currumbin Alley May 1st is a 'board swap' supported by the Surf Rider foundation.

Could be a good place to gather some $ for an old stick you no longer want to surf on, or if you are a social animal, talk to other surfers about the latest spaceship board you have been shaping.

Finless

This is our favourite 'free' short film from Merseabeaucoup.com

It has epic footage of David Rastovich doing crazy stuff on his finless alaia, Beautiful footage of Derek Hynd, all at perfect Noosa March magic with footage/sound from the Band Of Frequencies who played the music event at the Noosa Festival of Surfing.

Waves

It has been pumping out really nice headhigh waves around Northern NSW for weeks, everyone has been getting stoked.

One has to say, my god there are a lot of learner surfers out there mixed in with the old salts. It really is a zoo some days.

What can we do about it?

Maybe one simple solution could be that learners have to wear red to warn other surfers of their lack of ability?

Send any ideas in to us via info@switch-foot.com and we will put them together.

Surfers Path

Thanks to Alex Dick Read at 'the Path' we got a gig and we have added it to our 'blog' so you can have a read if you like. From December 2009 issue 75.

Roadtrip home movie

We finally got around to editing together this 6 minute home movie of some of our travels during December, down the East coast of Australia.

Some of the surfing footage is pretty shakey, due to the wind and hand held...so, dont watch it if you have a hangover.

Tee shirts

We are thinking of doing a tee shirt, just for the crew.

We have several designs in mind.

Can you reply to us and let us know which tee shirt you would like us to do.

1) the original old car shirt

2) switch-foot cover art (book one)

3) switch-foot logo (footprint)

4) switch-foot cover art book II

5) old style surf print

Music

Shannon Sol R Carroll (Band of Frequencies, Afro Dizzi Act) has been working on some music for George Greenough's short films.

Neil Halstead (Slowdive, Mojave 3) was in Byron town recently, we caught up with him as he was preparing to tour his music in China. Neil played several shows, including Byron Blues Fest. If you like Nick Drake, tune in to Halsteads solo material. www.neilhalstead.com/home

Jimi Hendrix experience released 'Valleys of Neptune'.

We have been listening to
