Keith Hamlyn ~ FIN Daily
Daily Dose of inspired imagery FROM NOOSA, subscribe FREE here... Cannot recommend highly enough how good this is for free.... www.fotosinnoosa.com/
We have long been a fan of Keith Hamlyn's work with film and panoramics shot in beautiful nature settings like Fraser Island. He learnt his trade via film and right now he is mobile with the highest quality Canon Digital gear you can find, shooting inspired images and uploading them to his daily mail out, titled 'FiN' which stands for
Fotos ----In------Noosa
Keith has a highly impressive back catalougue of nature images shot on Macro lenses and film stocks of many varieties. He has a unique take on shooting long exposures (at night) and has also turned out some of the most unique images we have seen with his old school panoramic film camera, which us mere mortals would not confidently pull the trigger at $20 an exposure! Check out some of Keith Hamlyn's back catalougue here www.keithhamlyn.com/
We did a double page spread within 50 odd pages in this magazine about the revival of the single fin surfboard in Australia. They talked to so many crew in Australia like Wayne Lynch, Geoff McCoy, Jim Banks, Dick Van Straalen and loads more.....i do not know what any of it said (as it was in japanese) but it looked cool and was well put together.
BLUE are a nice surfing publication and make a welcome change from the 'thrash and crash' magazines we have in Australia.
If you havent ever heard of it, it is worth a visit...you might need a japanese friend to read it to you though?
The latest Surfers Journal magazine has a interesting read on Peter Drouyn, who has changed his/her name to Westerly Wadina.
Marilyn Monroe has entered Drouyns body and Peter Drouyn has died, or so the story goes.
Drouyn is a pioneer. He has always been inventive and charismatic. Drouyn is one of Australia's finest and most flamboyant surfers in the history to date and it is great to see the Surfers Journal run something.
Whatever it is, marketing genius, or a feminine evolution, Drouyn is out of this World.
My cousin Daniel (From England) is in America cruising up and down the coast. He managed to swindle some Kook Newspapers with him and perhaps some copies of the 'Without Thought' short film he made with some of his good friends back in England.
Daniel has some really nice poems on his website, inspired by his travels....click the image to go there.
For Australians wanting a copy of the KOOK newspaper, drop daniel a line (via his website) he should be able to send them later in the year (August) when he returns home.
When you write, please hassle him to send us some dvd's of 'Without Thought' we would love to see it.

I have been loving Greg Sheehan's album. He is labelled a 'percussionist' but it is really tough to put him in a genre. You can preview the tracks here www.vitamin.net.au/Greg%20Sheehan/The%20Life%20Of%20My%20Time/tracksdefault.asp
Also been loving a band from South Africa called 'Aluta and the Mystics'. This is reggae with a soulful beautiful female on vocals. It is very well produced. We have the album on high rotation, not sure where you can get it from, but you can see some of it here. www.myspace.com/alutaandthemystics

Albe continues to inspire with his output.
Just released is his film on adventures back in Wesak Valley in the 1980's documenting the annual Wesak Festival.
'The Wesak Festival, which is fixed annually in relation to the full moon of Taurus, is the great Eastern festival of the Buddha. The Buddha is the expression of the wisdom of God, the embodiment of light and the revealer of divine purpose.'
