This is a serious website in the USA, that is stacked with culture, art, photographs from a huge pool of people....recently they added Australia's Bruce Usher to the pages, and we encourage anyone into photography to look further into the work and output of the man.
'February 1964, I bought a Komura 400mm telephoto lens with my first few months' pay. Six months later I had five black and white photos and 250 words published in the August 1964 issue of Surfing World. Subsequent feature articles and photos were published in Surfing World until the end of the decade.' Bruce Usher (from Club of the waves website)
by Nathan Oldfield:
Nearly three years in the making, Seaworthy documents a variety of individuals & the different way they approach wave riding. The film presents a left of centre look at diversity in surfing, including alaias, olos, toothpicks, singlefins, twins, thrusters, quads, fish, logs, surfmats and bodysurfing. It is a unique, intimate and timeless perspective of surfing, surfers and the environment in which they live and find their being.
Beautifully shot & artistically constructed, Seaworthy stars Tom Wegener, Beau Young, Dave Rastovich, Alex Knost, Dane Peterson, Belinda Baggs Peterson, Sage Joske, Heath Joske, CJ Nelson, Heydon Bunting & others.
The film is underpinned with a fresh & eclectic soundtrack that includes Jack Ladder, Mike McCarthy, Charge Group, Aloyisus Gallen, Isaac de Heer, Postcards Kaleido, Shaun Rust, Purplene, Tracey Read and Brendan Berlach. Runtime: 116 minutes... Also: Subtitles in French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish...
Tom Wegener recently was at a screening and said ... 'it is epic.'
What do novelist Tim Winton, classical violinist Richard Tognetti, celebrity chef Steven Snow, world-renowned ethicist Peter Singer, motivational speaker Dr John Demartini and Greens politician Ian Cohen have in common? In a word — surfing. Leading surf journalist Tim Baker has profiled the surfing world's most intriguing characters, encountered over twenty years of surf writing, to highlight the life lessons and boundless inspiration to be gained from a lifestyle built around waveriding.

switch-foot
Diligently working away here, trying to be santas little helper....and also work on the second switch-foot book....this newsletter was quickly put together and we prob should have sent one out a week ago trying to sell threads and things...but time has been tight...had a moment to look over this wonderful book recently sent to me, 'the uncommon journey of a pioneer waterman' about Tom Blake's life...and again read the words in 'the voice of the atom' a fantastic philosophical piece that Blake spent his whole life refining.
The Switch-foot website is soon to have lots more content added, including material from the second book....and if you look at the site, under 'people' you will see we now have a section on short films and will soon be adding some funny stuff for people to enjoy.
I want to thank everyone who believes in what I am doing and wish summer fun for every body, and in these challenging times with all the stuff going on, we hope you get to chill right out and enjoy Christmas and the possibilites a New Year may bring to you and your family.
