Switch-foot re-loaded

We can tell you there are 90 contributors to the second book and it is nearly 350 pages and we are calling it 'another megalith of stoke from the other side of surfing.' The book will be available through switch-foot.com from October 12th, and will be available for reviews (magazines etc) in August/September. Producer, Andrew Crockett, is away all of September, which is holding the release of the book back, but we can tell you the content is finished, the cover art is finalised and the page count is 333. Thanks to everyone who has helped. We would love to tell you more, but big brother is watching us. We will be sending out a short 2 minute funny video about the book in August, and that will be our next newsletter. The book is titled 'switch-foot re-loaded'

Peter Drouyn

We are all set to add loads of stuff to our website....about another 50 creative individuals and all kinds of stuff. For now, we added a page on Peter Drouyn, who was a big part of the first book.

Band Of Frequencies

We added a 13 minute track from the opening night of Thomas Campbells 'the Present' surf film which launched last week in Noosa Heads and is currently touring in Sydney. This track features Jali Buba Kuyateh and goes on quite an adventure. The guy filming it was a bit coopered, but you get the idea. band Of Freqs are playing with Ash Grunwald in June at the Gold Coast June 12 and Eumundi June 13th  as part of Ash's latest tour. To see Ash tour dates, go here. www.myspace.com/ashgrunwald

switch-foot BLOG

I know, everyone is doing it....but truth is, we have SO MUCH content here that is not making it into the book and we do not have the resources to make a magazine for print. SO, we are seeking submissions for the Blog type thing, and we are hoping you can send us stories....we want to hear YOUR stories about going surfing, getting stoked, what you like riding, what music you have seen, which surfers stoke you out, what pisses you off, and whatever you want really....we will add in readers stories, with images, along with all this classic stuff we have here to make a nice blog thing that is interesting to check out....and hopefully it will go off and we will add stuff everyday, thats the plan.

PLESE email your choice stories, low rez images, art and jokes to Andrew Crockett ac@switch-foot.com, we will launch the Blog in a few weeks.

Low Pressure Sound System

This is a one minute grab from the Life Like Liquid tour in 2006, shot by Lawrence Eastland. We played ten shows all up and it was pretty amazing experience for everyone jamming to those visuals and being on the road, late nights, new faces and strange places.

THE KOOK newspaper

Cousin Daniel Crockett is making a newspaper and we know it will be super good. Titled 'The Kook' and with contributions from all over the surfing World, stay tuned. We are trying to get Daniel to send 50 copies to Australia so we can post them out to the crew here in OZ. We have seen glimpses and it is pure. The image here is a polaroid Daniel took from a recent surf adventure to Ireland, the boards he had with him.

Ireland magic

Watched this the other day, titled 'Relentless: Powers of Three' and it is a real stoke. These guys in Ireland, having so much fun surfing these big powerful waves. They are all good friends and it is all about fun. The soundtrack is nice, the film has rave reviews and Ireland is well on the surfing map. Mickey Smith is such a cat. Well done guys, keep surfing.

(NB There is also an interesting interview on this linked website about Australian surfboard shaper, Maurice Cole.)

Picaresque website Mike DeTemple

This film looks really nice. They are doing such a massive tour and have total dedication. It is the next generation of sliders, these cats are in their 20's and shooting 16mm film, listening to nice music and riding all sorts of nice surfcraft. Can't wait for the dvd to land in OZ.

d.i.g fusion

Directions In Groove are one of the most successful jazz/funk/fusion acts out of Australia and we love them! Yes, they featured on some surfing films, like Jack McCoys SikJoy i think it was called, and yeah Terepai Richmond the Shark Island charger is the drummer and he rips.....d.i.g toured everywhere, the US, Europe and lots in OZ......they have not played much as d.i.g the last decade or so, BUT they are playing this weekend in Sydney at THE BASEMENT, and i wish i could be there...please go if you can and see this mighty fine bunch of musicians light up the night. Click the image to go to a clip from a one off gig they did last year at the Basement, click the title to go to another page they recently set up.

the cove movie

You might have seen footage of Dave Rastovich and crew in Japan doing a peaceful protest of the slaughtering of Whales and Dolphins in Taiji Bay late 2007. Well, here comes something pretty full on from the OPS crew who were there in Japan for two years filming a lot of the material undercover, with disguised cameras and a hardcore approach they are famous for. We hope this film gets solid airplay and attempts to educate people of the dangers of eating the meat of these creatures, which is generally speaking, toxic for human consumption.

Harry The Hat

Artist Harry Daily is in Australia and currently in Sydney. If you want to meet up with him, go to the screening of Thomas Campbell's 'The present' in Manly June 4th and 5th, or drop us a line and we will tell you where he is at. Harry has oodles of doodles with him and keen to meet crew into art.  Image here 'Hat' surfing in Northern NSW.
